My blue Clematis is in bloom and vacation is only a day away. Things are definitely looking up! By the time my vacation rolls around each year, I could be going anywhere, and it would sound good, but we just keep going back to Myrtle Beach. At least this year, we're staying in a different hotel, but, interestingly enough, it's a new one that was built on the site of the old Firebird where we stayed many times before they tore it down. We are nothing if not creatures of habit. Each year we go and we wonder if we wouldn't like to try some place new, but when the time comes to make reservations, we can never think of any place else to go--though we have a whole, great big country to choose from.
The RWA conventions are at least going to get me to some new places. This year's is in Washington, DC, where I haven't been since I was a kid, and next year it will be in Nashville, where I went this past winter, but the one after that will be in New York City! I've never been there--and I'm pretty nervous about going alone--so maybe I can get the guys to go with me to that one. For someone who writes erotic details in her books, you wouldn't think I'd be such a wuss, but I am. Nashville will be easy, but this trip to DC will test my resolve, my nerve, and my ability to travel all by my lonesome. I know other people do this sort of thing all the time, but for someone like me who doesn't get out much, it promises to be quite an adventure!
I'm trying desperately to get my sinuses cleared out before I go--don't want to be miserable the whole time--but something tells me that the ocean breezes will heal me completely. At least, I hope and pray they will!
