I'm really looking forward to my time at the lake with the girls. Hopefully, we'll have a boat that works so we can actually go out on the water. There's nothing quite as relaxing as drifting on a float in a cove at Dale Hollow Lake. Until another boat comes cruising through, of course. My friends make fun of me because I always float with an umbrella to keep from getting too hot or sunburned. I don't tan very easily--mostly I burn, so I rarely go out without liberal amounts of sunscreen. Nothing will spoil a vacation quicker than a sunburn!
Over the years I've put going to the lake into a couple of my (unpublished) books, and there's a reason for that. All women need to go on a vacation now and then with other women--preferably with friends, rather than relatives. No kids, no husbands, no boyfriends. Just the girls. Trust me, it's the only time you can truly relax.
Of course, if Rafael were to show up, we probably wouldn't make him leave. . . .
