Monday Moons from Myrtle Beach!

No, I didn't see these buns yesterday, but I did see some nice stone buns when we visited Brookgreen Gardens in Murrell's Inlet, SC.

We've driven past this place for years, and I always wanted to stop and check it out, but we were always on our way to Charleston and couldn't spare the time. On Sunday, however, since we were only going to lunch and then shopping at the Hammock Shops in Pawley's Island, we took a little detour.

It was hot, but breezy, and wound up spending about 2 1/2 hours walking the grounds of what was once a plantation, but is now a wildlife and nature preserve.

After lunch at the Dead Dog Saloon, (great she-crab soup, btw!)

we bought our tickets and toured the grounds where there were beautiful flowers,

ancient trees dripping with Spanish moss,

amazing sculptures,

endangered species,

the bluest hydrangeas I've ever seen,

and some mighty fine stone buns!

Sam out-walked all of us and didn't once complain--a far cry from when we've visited other plantations. I was truly amazed and said so. I guess all of his dieting and exercise have paid off. More so than for his brother, Mike, who had Sam walk on his back when we returned to our room.

Since my feet hurt worse than my back, I just took a nap!

Then we had dinner at Crabby Mike's, which is another of our regular stops, where they have the best crab legs around!

Whew! I'm tired!
Enjoy your Monday!
