I honestly can't remember whether I've used this guy before or not. But just in case I haven't, and since he's much too good to overlook, here he is.You see, I have two files. Unused Hunks and Used Hunks. There is also a Named Hunks file, where I keep any shots of a particular guy whose name I happen to know, whether I've used them or not, so it gets a bit confusing at times.
The problem is that I don't always go right back and transfer a picture from unused to used once I've posted it.
It's such a tough job.
Don't suppose anyone would care to volunteer, would they?
I'm up over 30,000 words on Stud. My critique partner, Sandy James, says she likes it the best of any of my CSC books so far.
With her help, I'm becoming a better writer, which may have something to do with it, but I think she likes those tortured heroes, and Tarq is a bit tortured. She made the comment that given his history, she didn't think she'd like him. But she does. (insert satisfied smile here) This is the first time I've had someone to critique a book chapter by chapter as it's being written, and it's wonderful to get feedback along the way instead of writing the entire book and sending it to my editor or agent before anyone else has had a crack at it. That way I know that someone likes it and has already found some of the errors and inconsistencies that I've missed.
The writing process seems to go faster, too. Sandy was sending me chapter after chapter of her latest project, and I couldn't believe she was actually sending them to me as she wrote them. When we first began working together, I was revising Virgin, which was already written. I was making changes and passing each chapter on to her, but now, I'm working on Stud and sending the chapters as I finish them, getting her feedback, and revising as I go. My previous style was to just keep on writing, while going back to earlier chapters and tweaking them only when I needed to change something or refresh my memory, never seeing the chapter breaks as the milestones they truly are.
Who knows? I might actually get good at this someday!
