Sunday's Hunk of the Day and The last day at RWA Nationals!

Saturday began with a quick breakfast and then our Indiana chapter prez, Sandy James gave a fabulous workshop: Freud Knows Romance: Using psychology to empower your characters. Here she is after the workshop signing copies of her books that she gave away in a drawing. It was easily one of the best workshops I'd been to, and I'd even seen it before! She had a full house, too!

The Sourcebooks booksigning went VERY well! I signed 198 books. I had 100 of Hero, 100 of Fugitive, and gave away all but 2 copies of Fugitive, which I'm taking home with me. I was down to six of Hero and was hoping I'd get to keep at least one, but the stragglers got them all! I didn't even get the chance to get a good look at it, but my copy from Amazon has shipped and should be coming soon. It's a lot different than a bookstore signing where people aren't getting them for free, but it's still pretty cool when you're signing them as fast as you can and don't get a break for a full hour!

This is a shot of the people lined up waiting outside, which was all I could see from the doorway.

And here's my roomie, Marie Force, looking, well... I'm not sure just how you'd go about describing that expression, but she gave away a ton of books, too!

And Terry Spear with all of her wolves!

Sharon Lathan with her daughter, Emily, who was the first to get a copy of Hero--and yes, she's old enough to read them!

After lunch, I went to a workshop on building sexual tension, which was very informative, and then it was back to my room to blog and rest up (Marie is asleep as I write this) before getting ready to go to the Rita and Golden Heart Awards dinner and ceremony tonight. I'm wearing the same outfit as last year, but with a different shirt and a real honest-to-God evening clutch purse, which was something I didn't possess last year. Here's me and Terry Spear,

And me and Kate Douglas!

LOL! Kate was trying to show some skin, and I was trying to avoid it!

Our good friend Jessica reviewed Hero on her blog. Here's the link!

I'll be heading home from Orlando today, so, in the meantime, enjoy the last day of Pretty Eyes Week!

Happy Birthday Mary G!

A little bird, who shall remain nameless, sent word that today is Mary G's BD, so it's time to break out the birthday buns and celebrate!

Hope it's a good one, Mary!

Oh, yeah, that little bird sent something else for you, too. She said he would be waiting for me when I arrived here in Orlando, but I think he got redirected to your house! Enjoy him!

9PM Thursday
What a day! I got up early and, after a quick breakfast, went to the Annual General Meeting. Because there wasn't a quorum, no new business could be discussed, so they adjourned the meeting after 30 min! I was like, "I got up for THIS????"

But, it was not without its benefits, because some of my INRWA sisters and I were chatting afterward and decided to write an e-book anthology of erotic short stories. We'll probably use different pen names, but, believe me, if this is ever actually published, I will be sure to give you all of the details!

At the Keynote Luncheon, Nora Roberts gave a great speech about her years in RWA, and lunch consisted of some fabulous chicken, mashed potatoes, and key lime pie. However, even as tasty as it was, our waiter was even better! I spotted him first, but our prez, Sandy James, is the one who called him over for the picture. He was REALLY tall, too!

After lunch, I went to a talk on the future of publishing. Looks like you'd better get your e-readers or kindles, ladies. Things are DEFINITELY headed that way!

When the workshops were all done for the day, I went to dinner a Greek restaurant on the Boardwalk with my INRWA buddies,

and after some sangria and beer (I was the one drinking the beer), the ideas for our erotic anthology got even better!

We headed back to our respective rooms after dinner and I hit the shower as soon as I got here. I still can't believe how hot it is here! Marie's supposed to be out until late tonight, so after I finish blogging, I might actually start working on the short story.

Hmm. . . . I think I need a little more eye candy, and since it's Pretty Eyes Week here at the CBEB, here are today's eyes!

They might be more smoldering and sexy than pretty, but I don't think anyone will complain. After all, there's inspiration in them there eyes!

Thursday Thoughts on the RWA National Conference

Wednesday, 8:23 AM
Having spent a night in a hotel room so quiet I could hear myself breathing, I must say I really miss my bed and my fan! I called Customer Services yesterday to see if they had a fan, which, of course, they did not. My friend Suzie recommended the white noise app for my iTouch, which was helpful, however, the sound of heavy rain bothered Marie. Neither of us got a whole lot of sleep last night, but we did survive.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky when I looked out this morning, which means it will be very hot. The walkway between the Swan and Dolphin hotels is NOT indoors, and I have a feeling we're going to learn to hate it before we leave.

After having brewed some undrinkable coffee, Marie is currently ironing her pants, (I did my ironing yesterday while I was waiting for her to arrive,) and I'm waiting on the guy from the mail office to deliver my bookmarks. Fed Ex swears they delivered the first shipment to my front door a couple of weeks ago, but if they did, Peaches must've swallowed them whole because if she followed her usual MO, there would've been bookmarks all over the place!

8:42 AM
We filled out our order for breakfast last night, and we're waiting for that to arrive, too. Marie is still ironing. We had hamburgers for dinner at The Fountain last night, and then went to the pool. The water was so hot I felt like I was swimming in a giant bathtub. I only got cooled off (slightly) when I got out of the water. I stayed in the pool talking to Marie, who was in a chaise lounge, long enough that I weighed a good 500 lbs when I got out. Don't you hate that? You feel buoyant and light while in the water, and then you get out and gravity comes back with a vengeance.

9:13 AM
We just finished breakfast, which was good, but pricey, and I'm still waiting for my package to arrive. I've called the mail room again and, I think, convinced the guy that I am indeed in a room with a three-digit room number, as opposed to four. Perhaps my package will arrive before I have to leave for lunch. . . . The maid has already knocked on the door to clean the room--we forgot to put out the Do Not Disturb sign--and I got my hopes up thinking that my bookmarks were actually here. But, alas, no. . . .

The posts for the rest of this week will not be as detailed as this one, primarily because I will not have the time to write them. You may get nothing but hunks, but, so far, I've only taken one picture of one of the swans on top of the hotel:

9:30 AM
Hopefully, there will be more pictures later on. I suppose I could take a picture of the dolphin on top of the other hotel and post that. Hold on a minute. . . .

There! Cute little bugger for a gigantic dolphin, isn't it?

9:48 PM
So, to pick up where I left off, when I went to get my stuff at the registration booth, the lady who gave me my badge was like, "Ooo, Cheryl Brooks!" and she touched my hand--twice. LOL! That was my rockstar moment for this event. I finally got my bookmarks after telling the mail guy to just send them to the desk, which is what I should have done to begin with. I'll know better next time.

The lunch meeting with my agent went well, and we discussed possible strategies for getting some of my contemporary romances published. Plus, she paid for lunch, which was pretty cool.

The rest of the afternoon is a blur of sore feet from walking back and forth between the Dolphin and the Swan (our room is in the Swan, the conference is in the Dolphin) with the result that I finally gave up on the sandals and went back to my trusty Nikes. The Cat Master just can't do the snazzy shoe thing for an entire day!

I saw Caroline Fyffe, my roomie from RT, and she was looking as lovely as ever! Her new book, Montana Dawn, was just released yesterday. I saw her again at the Librarian and Bookseller Networking Event, and she fussed at me for not actually doing any networking! I'm just not much of a promoter, and though I may not have given my card to any of the librarians, I did put out some bookmarks and cards in the Goody Room.

The Literacy Booksigning event went pretty well. I sold five copies of Outcast and five of Fugitive, plus I sold a book to the lady from Sweden who interviewed me for a union newspaper at last year's conference. Apparently 2000 people entered the raffle to win the signed book she got from me, which was pretty neat! I saw several of my INRWA buddies, including our prez, Sandy James, and sold them some books, too.

The only bad thing about the signing was that you had to sit there for two hours while the volunteers come around to refill your cup of water. I was there from 5 to 7:30 PM, and by then, I was about to pop! Here I am at the signing, wearing the same shirt I wore to last year's event. The shirt may be old, but at least the earrings are new!

My roomie, Marie Force, was there signing her book, Love at First Flight, along with some cool sample booklets of her new ebook with Carina Press, Fatal Affair.

Kate Douglas came over toward the end and we took each other's pictures. This is so different from my first conference. I didn't know anybody then, and it's amazing how much more fun it is when you do!

After the signing, Marie and I went to dinner at an Italian restaurant here at the hotel with two friends from her local chapter. We thought about going to the karaoke bar, but wussed out and came back to the room, and here I am, blogging as usual!

The conference officially starts tomorrow, and I've already decided that the plan to wear some of my dressier outfits (by that, I mean the kind that require knee-high hose) may have to be scrapped. It's too darn hot!!!!

Monday Moons with Pretty Eyes!

Betcha didn't think I had one to fulfill both requirements this week! Never underestimate the power of the Cat Master's hunk archives! True, his hair is much too short for my tastes, but we'll overlook that flaw just this once.

I'm gearing up to leave for Orlando tomorrow. I got a last-minute email update from RWA on the Orlando airport, which leads me to believe that the departure from there on Sunday won't be anywhere near as smooth and hassle-free as the one in Indy.

Ah, well... It's only time.

Enjoy the moons with eyes!

Thoughtful Thursday Underwear guy!

Well, it looks like the RWA Nationals won't be at the Opryland Hotel, which is closed due to flooding. I received the cancellation email on Monday night. Not sure what they'll do about relocating the event, but if I can't drive there, I may not go. We'll see. I was really looking forward to staying in that hotel after our tour of it in February, too.

It's the sort of thing no one expects to have happen, and I'm sure the folks in Nashville are still having a tough time of it and will have for some time to come.
Recovering from a flood is not an easy task. My thoughts are with them.

It's that time of year....

. . . when we all wish we were in Acapulco.

Not sure if that's where this guy is, but at least it looks warm. I want to be there so very, very badly. . . .

One nice thing about snow is that my horses look really clean. Just wait until all of this crap melts and we're in mud up to our eyeballs. We'll be wishing for snow again, or at least a good, hard freeze.

I signed up for the RWA Nationals in Nashville a few days ago, which will take place in late July. *sigh* Sounds really hot, doesn't it?

Ah, well. Spring will arrive in just thirty more days.

And counting. . . .

In other news, a great big THANK YOU is in order for Ms Moonlight, who has once again graciously volunteered to redesign my banner. It's fabulous!!!

Next on the agenda is this Book Boyfriend Fantasy thing that Sweet Vernal Zephyr has tagged me on, so I guess I'll run down my list.

The Gutter Gals started this commotion...
"We all have our favorite book boyfriends and now you have the chance to create one just for yourself and your fantasies! How do you play?
  • Fill out the quiz below
  • Post a picture of sexy man
  • Tag five other book addicts to do the same.
Don't forget to pop to their blogs as let them know they have been tagged! Once tagged... you have do do the same, grab the button, answer the questions, and keep it rolling! But don't forget the picture of the sexy man! It doesn't have to match your fantasy man, just a little eye candy for the rest of us... heheheee!" ~ The Gutter Girls

Okay, then. . . Here goes. . . . Along with pictures of the two men I find it very hard to choose between. . . .

Hair Color & Style
  • Any color as long as his head isn't shaved.
  • Preferably a lot longer than mine and curly.

Eye Color & Facial Features
  • Eyes can be any color as long as they're kind
  • Dimples would be a plus
  • A killer smile
  • Nice teeth
  • A nice, big nose (we all know what that can indicate...)
Height & Body Type
  • Any height will do. Tall is nice, but I like the cute little guys, too.
  • Muscles clearly defined, but not so big that they're grotesque (Raphael is purrrfect!)
Visible Age
  • Late 20's to early 40's--which still makes me a cougar!
Bangability ie. kinky/bi/size
  • Kinky is good!
  • Not sure about the bisexual thing unless I approve of his boyfriend. However, these two together would be perfect!
  • Size: Big enough that I can feel it, but not so big that I'll need reconstructive surgery afterward.
Human or Other
  • Depends on the nature of the "other." Some of those "others" can be pretty creepy!
  • But if he's a Zetithian, it's a definite YES!!!!
Paranormal Skills
  • Doesn't need them.
Interests
  • Loves making love all day and into the night
  • Loves music
  • Loves to laugh
  • Loves children
  • Loves animals of all kinds
  • Loves me!
Special Skills
  • Knows his way around a kitchen
  • Can take care of me when I'm sick
  • Can fix anything that can break
  • Will clean the house without grumbling
  • Can drive any kind of vehicle
  • Has a good sense of humor
  • Makes me feel loved

And that's it!

I guess I'll tag Marie, Kendra, MsM, and Helen Hardt on this one.

Any other suggestions?

Volunteers?????

And also, because he's hot, sexy, cute as a bug's ear, and we all love him so, heeeerrrreee's Benji!

PS: Do be sure to click on the guys. They all get bigger, except Raphael. . . *sob*
